The One-Day Workshop for small business owners and sole traders
Get Your Story Straight
Find your business story and learn to tell it in person, online, and on camera
What do you do?
Oh, but if there isn’t a more tongue-tying question in the small business world.
You know what you do, and you know why it’s valuable, but whenever you try to explain it – in person, on your website, socials, email marketing – suddenly you forget how words work.
And what about those networking meetings where you end up staring at your notes or worrying you’re boring everyone senseless? (Yeah, we’ve all been there.)
Then there’s that vital marketing thing you’ve been ignoring. Video.
91% of UK-based businesses now use videos in their marketing (because it works).
But you don’t know where to start, you’re not sure about the cost, and you’ve got better things to do than trip over your words in front of a camera.
What if you could fix all that without having to hire a copywriter, do a public speaking course, or shell out for a video production company?
You can…
Leesa is a copywriter, brand storyteller, and published author. She’s also a social sciences nerd and can pull stories out of you that you didn’t know were there.
Karen’s a video producer and master networker. She’s got 15 years at the BBC under her belt, along with 30 years promoting other businesses through her video production company, Take One TV.
Join us on 26 November, where we’ll cover everything from what you need to say in your marketing, all the way through to how to say it.
In person, online, and on camera.
Here’s what you’ll get on the day
First, we’ll take you through Leesa’s brand story framework, getting really granular about:
Who you help
What they care about
Why it matters
Why you’re the best person to help them
And what life looks like after you
You’ll come away with a blueprint for your messaging, and a how-to guide for using it across your marketing channels.
Once you have that sorted, Karen will get you clued up on your delivery:
How to be memorable in a room full of people
How to use video to market your business
How to show up on camera as the best, most authentic version of you
And if you’re inclined to make your own videos, Karen will give you some dos and some definitely don’ts
So you can show up with genuine confidence, and start building those relationships in person and in the online side of your business.
We’ll spend the day together from 10am - 4.30pm in a creative space in the heart of High Wycombe.
It’ll be a practical workshop where everyone gets hands-on help, so we’re keeping the group small.
This is for you if:
You’re a small business owner or sole trader.
You don’t have any in-house marketing, so you’re having to figure this all out yourself.
You’ve got a sneaking suspicion that your value isn’t clear to the people you’re trying to reach.
You might have a website, but you’re not really sure what you’re supposed to be saying on it, and it doesn’t reflect where your business is now.
You might be on socials, you may even have a newsletter. But sometimes they feel as useful as a goose farting into the fog because they’re not bringing in leads.
And you want:
A clear brand narrative to inform all your messaging, so that you’re telling the same story about your ideal customer and how you help them at every part of the customer journey.
To build relationships, in person and online, with the people who need you the most.
Shorter sales cycles because prospects show up already clear on the value you offer and ready to buy.
Simpler marketing because you're not reinventing the wheel every time you create something.
Not having to fumble over your words explaining what you do, or why it matters, ever again.
Or give us a shout at hello@thestorytellingcopywriter.co.uk if you want to chat through anything.
And you can look forward to never having to worry about what on earth you’re supposed to be saying, or how to say it, ever again.

-
Yes! Please do.
We do need to be mindful of space in the room, so we do ask that you don’t bring more than one person.
Otherwise, yes! Bring your co-founder or someone from your team.

A little bit, yes.
We’ll send out a prompt sheet two weeks before just to get you thinking about a few things that we’ll cover in more depth on the day.
You won’t have to send anything to us or make endless notes. It’ll just be a few questions to get your cogs turning before we meet.
